Check whether migration is necessary
A well-maintained WordPress site may already fit your needs. Review hosting, caching, images, plugins and editorial workflow first. Astro suits content-focused sites with limited client JavaScript, but not every application.
Back up and inventory URLs
Back up content, media and SEO settings. Inventory URLs from sitemaps, internal links and Search Console. Preserve routes where possible and map relevant redirects where changes are necessary.
Migrate behaviour, not just appearance
Check forms, search, feeds, languages and any membership functionality. Static output does not replace these automatically. Define and test the replacement workflows and their destinations.
Launch with verification and rollback
Verify statuses, canonicals, sitemaps and robots rules on staging before switching the domain. Keep a rollback path and monitor 404s and indexing. No framework is perfectly secure or guarantees rankings.
